Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs computer tomography procedures, generating sectional and 3D images for interpretation, and assists in interventional and therapeutic procedures.
  • Exercises judgment when reviewing patient clinical history and ensures proper documentation in PACS.
  • Prepares and reviews contrast questionnaires with patients/families, scans documents into EPIC, and administers contrast media as prescribed.
  • Verifies exam prescriptions, communicates with physicians as needed, and handles insurance authorizations and modifications.
  • Coordinates with radiologists by obtaining outside imaging and making exams available for review.
  • Provides patients and physicians with exam copies and ensures image quality and identification.
  • Uses consistent scanning protocols and verifies patient readiness and safety for procedures.
  • Administers contrast, performs venipuncture and IV maintenance, and monitors patient reactions.
  • Fulfills scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends; available for overtime and on-call needs.
  • Lifts minimum 25 lbs., pushes/pulls 50 lbs., and stands at least 6 hours daily.
  • Adapts care for diverse patient populations and communicates at appropriate developmental or literacy levels.
  • Follows all organizational competency standards and behavior policies.

Education:

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Must obtain ARRT (CT) certification within 12 months of hire.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, radiological positioning, and CT technology.
  • Proficient in PACS systems.
  • Maintains continuing education credits (CEUs).

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Six months of CT experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Epic and other HIS/RIS systems.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

  • ARRT Certified R.T. (CT) license.
