Job Summary:
- The Interventional Technologist I assists Physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor and treat simple to complex conditions, defects and/or diseases without surgery.
- This position is intended for those who are Producing experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or are experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in the discipline.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists Providers in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including but not limited to cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization and pain management.
- Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional and/or invasive procedures in accordance with established Product of practice guidelines.
- Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus centric care.
- Assists in preparing patients for on patient procedures and providing comfort.
- Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures
- Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols.
- Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
- Collaborates with team members across client including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.
- Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards.
- Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.
- Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
- Assists with quality assurance, audits and performance improvement tasks as requested.
- Provides on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned.
- May support client’s academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
- May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members.
- Assists with onboarding of new team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
- A graduate of post-secondary educational program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, or paramedic/EMT) as defined by ARRT or CCI.
- Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
- ARRT(RT), RCES or RCIS certification required within 18 months of hire.

- Applies core knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology associated with specialty imaging procedures.
- Demonstrates ability and skill to apply theory, practices and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze and annotate study data or procedure documentation.
- Applies knowledge of sterile fields consistently ensuring a safe environment for the patient.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and patient populations served.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.
- Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments.
