Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound examinations.
- Perform adult and/or pediatric echocardiography, including TEE (Transesophageal Echocardiography) and Stress Echo.
- Perform peripheral vascular studies including arterial, renal, and transcranial Doppler exams.
- Review patient history and relevant clinical information before procedures.
- Operate ultrasound equipment and related diagnostic imaging systems.
- Evaluate imaging quality and provide preliminary critical findings to physicians.
- Assist physicians during advanced cardiac procedures including:
- TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
- SAVR (Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement)
- Tandem Heart procedures
- Lariat procedures
- Pseudoaneurysm compression
- Support procedures performed in the OR, Hybrid Lab, Cath Lab, and CAD.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient documentation and procedure records.
- Process charges and departmental documentation accurately.
- Schedule patients efficiently.
- Participate in quality assurance (QA), accreditation, and continuing education activities.
- Maintain infection control, patient safety, and confidentiality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Participate in on-call rotation after regular business hours.
Requirements:
- Minimum 6 months of related Cardiac Ultrasound experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills with physicians, surgeons, and healthcare staff.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation.
- Required Certifications (one of the following):
- RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) or
- RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) through ARDMS or
- RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) or
- RVS (Registered Vascular Specialist) through CCI.
- Current BLS certification.
Preferences:
- Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiac Ultrasound certification program.
- Experience with adult and/or pediatric echocardiography.
- Experience performing TEE, Stress Echo, peripheral vascular studies, arterial, renal, and transcranial Doppler examinations.
- Experience assisting with advanced structural heart and cardiovascular procedures (TAVR, SAVR, Cath Lab, Hybrid OR).
