Job Description
Job Summary:
- The Endoscopy Technician I, under general supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists with technical procedures, patient care services, and other assigned duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates and maintains equipment safely according to established policies and procedures.
- Assists physicians and clinical staff during procedures requiring aseptic technique and standard precautions.
- Transports carts throughout the facility as needed.
- Prepares patients for exams or procedures and assists the physician.
- Observes patients, recognizes changes in condition, and seeks appropriate assistance promptly.
- Cleans procedure rooms before and after cases; transports soiled equipment to the decontamination room.
- Maintains adequate inventory of equipment and supplies; places general and special supply orders in a timely manner.
- Sets up procedure rooms, ensuring all required equipment and supplies are available and in working order.
- Restocks supplies in assigned rooms at the end of each shift.
- Performs quality checks on equipment, ensures repairs if needed, and cleans/disinfects specialty equipment per policy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to see and hear with or without correction.
- Takes responsibility for participating in performance improvement activities.
- Attends 100% of required in-service education.
- Attends at least 50% of staff meetings (if unable to attend, responsible for reviewing content).
