Job Description:
- Performs high – quality mammography according to Breast Center standards of performance.
- Utilizes radiation safety protection measures.
- Practices cleanliness to equipment and room.
- Correctly types all patient information into ID flasher systems.
- Documents on patient history sheet pertinent patient information such as scars, moles, location of lumps, etc.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures.
- Tracks exams in the Radiology Information Systems.
- Does four images/film at a minimum.
- Includes two magnification view/film and at least one transverse (marked “transverse”).
- Checks all information on film: Patient’s name, Patient’s Number, Location of Noduled.
- Indicates if palpable on Patient History Form.
- Tracks exam in Radiology Information System.
- Treats everyone in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Greets patients with a smile.
- Does not discuss patient’s condition in public.
- Handles customer complaints objectively and routes them properly.
- Does not display negative sentiments in front of patients.
- Attempts to expedite house patient tests.
- Explains test to patient; engages patient in brief conversation to relax her.
- Shows empathy for patient.
- Uses discretion when communicating with patients.
- Does not keep patient waiting while conducting personal conversations with fellow workers.
- Properly explains special procedures to patients obtains consent in accordance with hospital policy.
- Teaching done as needed includes BSE Video.
- Answers questions or refers patient to someone who can answer.
- Pamphlet / shower card.
- Follows cyst aspiration procedure.
- Follows needle localization protocol, which includes informing family of the progress of the procedure.
- Documents test and significant facts on the Patient History Form.
- Tracks exams in the Radiology Information System.
- Cooperation with radiologist in his/her request for additional studies.
- Assists Radiologist during core needle biopsies if applicable.
- Properly prepares all paperwork necessary before performing patient’s mammogram.
- Obtains patient’s signature on release form and then faxes for previous outside films.
- Answers phone using correct courteous manner.
- Credits/cancels in RIS.
- Properly uses RIS according to Breast Center protocol.
- Provides for mobility of patient through any needed physical through any needed physical assistance.
- Speaks distinctly to patient.
- Maintains patient’s privacy.
- Aware of patient loss of strength and flexibility.
- Attempts to reduce patient’s anxiety and fears.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 1 year exp. in Mammography.
- ARRT (M) – Registered Mammography tech.
- Knowledge of sterile technique.
- 15 C.E. hours in Mammography required.
