Job Summary:
- To ensure that Respiratory Therapy services rendered (the evaluation and treatment of patients) are completed in a timely, accurate and reliable manner.
- Those served include inpatients, outpatients, staff and employees as well as affiliated Client community groups as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administers respiratory therapy procedures as directed by the manager.
- Performs Aerosol Therapy treatments.
- Performs CPT/Flutter/PEP Mask therapy (Production mobilization therapy).
- Performs Incentive Spirometry therapy.
- Performs M.D.I. therapy.
- Performs Suctioning procedure.
- Performs Extubation procedure.
- Responsible for Oxygen Tank Safety.
- Performs Oxygen Therapy on all approved devices.
- Manages BiPAP-CPAP therapy and alarms.
- Performs Cough Assist/Vest therapy.
- Manages High Flow Cannula/Humidifier therapy and alarms.
- Performs Pulmonary Function Screen diagnostic procedure.
- Performs Fit Testing procedure in coordination with Employee Health.
- Performs Pulse Oximetry procedure.
- Performs Adult EKG procedure.
- Performs Pediatric EKG procedure.
- Performs Adult BLS life support.
- Performs Pediatric BLS life support.
- Performs Neonatal BLS life support.
- Manages Mechanical Ventilation.
- Manages Ventilator Alarms.
- Performs Arterial Puncture and Analysis for the Blood Gas Laboratory.
- Performs Quality Control for the Blood Gas Laboratory.
- Manages patient healthcare information system (Soarian).
- Manages medication administration program (MAK).
- Manages medication dispensing system (McKesson).
- Verifies physician’s written orders performing pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Records and reports appropriately the results of all procedures.
- Performs BLS when necessary, after certification.
- Abides by the department Delivery Standards.
- Maintains files and bookkeeping records in accordance with department policy.
- Performs other related duties.
- Assists in departmental in-service program.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
- Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
- Registered by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist.
- BLS (AHA, HSI, or client) and ACLS Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) .
