Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist to assist with the preparation and distribution of medications and inventory management in a hospital or retail setting.
• The technician is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance and ensuring medication safety and accuracy.
• Rotational shifts and assignments across different areas and times are required based on department needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications and maintaining drug inventory.
• Rotate through assignments and shifts to meet operational demands of the pharmacy.
• Receive, return, and deliver medications and supply carts to various hospital units.
• Operate and troubleshoot automated dispensing equipment and systems.
• Maintain attention to detail and complete assigned tasks within required timeframes.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local pharmacy regulations and policies.

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy experience – Required.
• Experience in pharmacy dispensing, sterile processing, or IV room operations – Preferred.

Language Skills: 

• Spanish-speaking – Preferred.

Certifications: 

• NYSED registered Pharmacy Technician.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to work flexible shifts and rotating tours.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with pharmacy equipment and medication safety protocols.
• Must adhere to institutional and regulatory standards.
