Job Description
Job Summary:
- Under the direction of the Supervisor and Director of Imaging and Related Services, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using radiopharmaceuticals and nuclear medicine equipment.
- This role requires strict adherence to radiation safety protocols and New York State Department of Health regulations.
- The technologist is also responsible for patient care, image quality, and supporting ongoing education and technology adoption in the department.
Responsibilities:
- Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures according to physician orders.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and contrast media.
- Ensure proper patient positioning and image quality.
- Operate nuclear medicine instruments and imaging equipment.
- Monitor and manage radiation levels in accordance with NY State Code Part 16.
- Follow quality control and radiation safety protocols.
- Dispose of radioactive materials safely and accurately.
- Document and report procedures as per hospital standards.
- Assist in clinical evaluation and care of patients.
- Support education and continuous learning for self and team.
Experience:Â
- Previous experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist required.
- Epic Experience Required.
Education:Â
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
Certification:
- CT Certification or Radiography License with CNMT – Preferred.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:Â
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift or move patients, and handle radioactive materials safely.
