Job Summary:
- The Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Ultrasound Technologist performs advanced maternal-fetal ultrasound examinations and assists physicians with diagnostic and invasive procedures.
- Responsible for obtaining high-quality imaging, evaluating findings throughout the examination, and providing accurate diagnostic information to the radiologist and referring OB providers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced maternal-fetal ultrasound examinations under physician supervision.
- Conduct detailed fetal anatomical evaluations, fetal echocardiograms, growth assessments, and fetal well-being studies.
- Perform biophysical profiles, maternal/fetal Doppler studies, and amniotic fluid assessments.
- Perform maternal pelvic imaging, including transvaginal cervical assessments.
- Perform advanced 3D/The Client ultrasound imaging as applicable.
- Provide ultrasound guidance during needle and other invasive procedures.
- Assist radiologists/physicians with invasive maternal-fetal procedures.
- Evaluate patients for contraindications, preparation requirements, and ability to tolerate procedures.
- Analyze sonographic findings during examinations to ensure complete and diagnostic-quality studies.
- Recognize abnormal findings requiring immediate radiologist review.
- Obtain and document appropriate images, Doppler signals, measurements, and patient information for physician interpretation.
- Communicate examination findings and preliminary information to radiologists and referring OB providers.
- Assist with standardization and training of residents on MFM ultrasound procedures.
Required Education:
- Completion of a twelve (12) month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography / General Ultrasound or equivalent certificate program is required.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
- Must be American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Registered in:
- OB.
- OB GYN.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
- Fetal Echocardiography (FE).
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of experience performing complex OB/GYN or vascular ultrasound scans.
- Previous Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Ultrasound Technologist experience – Required.
- Strong knowledge of advanced maternal-fetal ultrasound and Doppler techniques.
