Job Summary:
- Under the direction of a Radiologist, this position specializes in performing invasive procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explain the examination procedure to patients and prepare them for the examination.
- Gather additional medical history from the patient as necessary.
- Prepare prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for patient administration.
- Review clinical data on requisitions, analyze the patient’s anatomical structure, set up equipment, and assist the Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures.
- Prepare and set up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for procedures.
- Ensure adequate supplies (needles, catheters, etc.) are on hand and properly stored.
- Replenish supplies as necessary.
- Actively assess patient condition before, during, and after all procedures.
- Manually control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic images for the area being studied.
- Assist in the training of new personnel and/or students assigned to the division.
- Perform imaging procedures while adhering to radiation protection principles (e.g., shielding patients, reducing dose, using ALARA techniques).
- PACS: Resolve any image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing images and confirming image/series counts.
- RIS: Complete all study indexing, including study begin, study end, and completion in the Radiology Information System.
- Confirm clinical protocols with Radiologists before performing studies.
- Demonstrate consistent adherence to Team Member Standards of Excellence (e.g., AIDET, open communication, timely responses, positive attitude, respect for diversity).
- Perform Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate.
- Document all necessary information in the medical record and radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.
- Follow department protocols for related functions.
- Utilize independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
- Get rooms ready for the physician (sterile technique skills).
- Prep the patient and assist the physician with scrubbing in.
- Clean up the space after procedures and perform 3D imaging.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Must maintain required continuing medical education hours.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- Healthcare Provider certification (BLS).
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with advanced registry in one of the following:
- Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI).
- Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI).
- Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV).
Required Experience:
- 2 years and candidate must have neurological case experience.
- This is a comprehensive stroke facility.
Interview: 30-minute MS Teams interview with Manager & Lead Tech.
