Job Description
Job Summary:
- Provides physicians and patients with support needed to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and the promotion of good sleep.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs diagnostic sleep testing, including but not limited to order interpretation, medication administration, patient hook-up and monitoring, BLS responsibility, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) initiation and titration, oxygen administration, and other related duties.
- Analyzes data collected during sleep testing, including but not limited to staging, calculation of appropriate indices, and other related activities.
- Documents findings / patient responses in a manner consistent with documentation guidelines.
- Maintains equipment for proper function and operation.
- Evaluates patients’ and significant others’ educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or makes appropriate referrals.
- Mentors polysomnographic technicians with regard to all aspects of sleep medicine.
- Validates ten percent of scoring performed by polysomnographic technicians.
- Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Basic Life Support (BLS).
- LIC-Respiratory Therapist – STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire Preferred
- CRT-Polysomnographic Technologist – BRPT Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists Upon Hire Required
- CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry – NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care Upon Hire Preferred
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association 90 Days Required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – client 90 Days Required.
