Job Summary:
- Under general supervision, performs specialized computerized tomography (CT) imaging procedures for diagnostic purposes.
- This role may also perform general diagnostic radiology examinations as needed.
- Responsible for ensuring high-quality imaging, patient safety, accurate documentation, and adherence to radiation protection standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explain imaging procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
- Review clinical information and perform appropriate CT and diagnostic radiology examinations.
- Obtain and document relevant patient medical history as needed.
- Prepare procedure rooms and maintain adequate supplies and equipment.
- Position patients, operate CT imaging equipment, and perform scans to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Administer intravenous contrast media, including use of power injectors, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Assist radiologists with sterile diagnostic procedures, including biopsies.
- Apply radiation safety and ALARA principles to minimize patient exposure.
- Ensure accurate image transfer and quality control within PACS systems.
- Complete study documentation and indexing within RIS systems.
- Confirm imaging protocols with radiologists prior to procedures when necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical record and radiology documentation to support clinical and billing functions.
- Demonstrate excellence in communication, teamwork, customer service, and patient care standards.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
- Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- BLS -Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of one (1) year of CT imaging experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CT imaging procedures and radiologic safety practices.
- Ability to provide high-quality patient care and customer service.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing clinical environments.
- Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, and willingness to learn.
