Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Under general supervision, performs specialized computerized tomography (CT) imaging procedures for diagnostic purposes.
  • This role may also perform general diagnostic radiology examinations as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring high-quality imaging, patient safety, accurate documentation, and adherence to radiation protection standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Explain imaging procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
  • Review clinical information and perform appropriate CT and diagnostic radiology examinations.
  • Obtain and document relevant patient medical history as needed.
  • Prepare procedure rooms and maintain adequate supplies and equipment.
  • Position patients, operate CT imaging equipment, and perform scans to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Administer intravenous contrast media, including use of power injectors, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Assist radiologists with sterile diagnostic procedures, including biopsies.
  • Apply radiation safety and ALARA principles to minimize patient exposure.
  • Ensure accurate image transfer and quality control within PACS systems.
  • Complete study documentation and indexing within RIS systems.
  • Confirm imaging protocols with radiologists prior to procedures when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate medical record and radiology documentation to support clinical and billing functions.
  • Demonstrate excellence in communication, teamwork, customer service, and patient care standards.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
  • Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.

Required Certification & Licensure:

  • BLS -Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of CT imaging experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CT imaging procedures and radiologic safety practices.
  • Ability to provide high-quality patient care and customer service.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing clinical environments.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, and willingness to learn.
