Job Description

Job Summary:

Sterile instrumentation processing.  Terminal cleaning/decontamination of patient care instrumentation and equipment in accordance with regulatory agency standards.  Diagnostic and biological testing of all surgical sterilization equipment. Distribution of supplies to hospital departments and nursing units as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Prep & Pack:

  • Re-assemble/wrap instrumentation trays for surgery/various departments per recommended practices. Process stock for surgery/CPD.

Decontamination:

  • Responsible for decontamination of patient care equipment/surgical instrumentation, equipment/various department instrumentation.

Case carts:

  • Assemble sterile instrumentation/supplies for surgical procedures per OR specifications.
  • Rotation of instrumentation/supplies .
  • Check stock.

Sterilization:

  • Responsible for practice of safe/efficient/effective sterilization (steam/Sterrad) procedures.
  • OR/CPD biological testing.
  • Coordinate on time preparation of equipment needed with next day scheduled procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor staff.
  • Consistently demonstrates dedication to the Beaumont customer Service standards (100%).

Required Qualifications:

  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months of relevant experience Preferred.
  • CRT-Registered Central Services Technician, Certified (CRCST) .
  • HSPA Healthcare Sterile Processing Association 1 Year required.

  • Waist to Waist > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 50 lbs.
  • Waist to Chest (below shoulder) > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 10 lbs.
  • Waist to Overhead > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 5 lbs.
  • Bilateral Carry > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 25 lbs.
  • Unilateral Carry > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 10 lbs.
  • Pushing Force > 5 lbs: Occasionally up to 25 lbs.
  • Pulling Force > 5 lbs: Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
  • Sitting: Occasionally.
  • Standing: Frequently.
  • Walking: Frequently.
  • Forward Bend – Standing: Occasionally.
  • Forward Bend – Sitting: Seldom.
  • Trunk Rotation – Standing: Occasionally.
  • Trunk Rotation – Sitting: Occasionally.
  • Squat: Seldom.
  • Stair Climbing: Seldom.
  • Crawling / Kneeling: Seldom.
  • Driving: Seldom.
  • Reach – Above Shoulder: Occasionally.
  • Reach – at Shoulder or Below: Occasionally.
  • Handling: Occasionally.
  • Forceful Grip > 5 lbs: Occasionally.
  • Forceful Pinch > 2 lbs: Occasionally.
  • Finger/Hand Dexterity: Occasionally.
  • Visual Acuity 1 [None = No; Seldom = Yes]: Seldom.
  • Color Vision (Ishihara) Test [None = No; Seldom = Yes]: Seldom.
