Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
- Working under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the OB Tech assists in patient care activities, maintains department stock, and performs surgical technician duties in the scrub role.
- Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Scrubs for cesarean section surgical procedures. Assists with vaginal deliveries and or surgical repair of episiotomies.
- Identifies patient needs/physician preferences for surgical supplies/equipment/instruments.
- Performs shift specific assignments according to the OB Tech responsibility sheet.
- Maintains the principles of aseptic technique in preparing for vaginal/surgical deliveries
- Performs technical skills in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Inventories and stocks department supplies and equipment.
- Coordinates with Surgical Sterile Processing Department and Materials Management to order and distribute supplies and reconcile patient charges.
- Utilizes positive communication skills to effect conflict resolution and teamwork.
- Contributes to cost effective patient care by monitoring use of time, equipment, and supplies.
- Complies with safety policies and procedures to provide a safe environment for employees, patients, and visitors.
- Demonstrates necessary flexibility regarding changes in Hospital or Department activities.
- Completes C-Section charges in the computer correctly and within department guidelines.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit.
- Actively participates in achieving departmental goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Two (2) year experience as a Scrub Technician in comparable job setting within the last 5 years preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
