Job Description
Job Summary:
- The Respiratory Therapist (RT) is certified or registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and is responsible for providing cardiopulmonary services to both inpatients and outpatients.
- The RT will follow protocols approved by the medical staff and departmental policies to deliver timely, accurate diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow established protocols and department procedures.
- Assist physicians with invasive and non-invasive procedures.
- Deliver medicated aerosol therapy using compressed medical gases.
- Maintain patient airways and manage mechanical ventilators.
- Perform arterial line insertions and intubations.
- Conduct pulmonary function studies.
- Administer cardiac and pulmonary stress tests.
- Collect and analyze arterial blood gases.
Certification and Licensure:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through NBRC – Required.
- BLS & ACLS certifications through American Heart Association – Required.
- Active Arkansas Respiratory Therapist license – Required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years recent hospital experience as an RT – Required.
