Radiologic Technologist

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of General Diagnostic Radiology procedures, protocols, and policies.
• Maintains RT(R) credentials and Active Status.
• Performs quality radiographic examinations and ensures accurate patient and exam information.
• Verifies patient identity, obtains relevant medical history, and confirms pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation.
• Reviews radiographic orders and images for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Properly positions patients and develops an appropriate plan for completing examinations.
• Reviews and manages daily schedules and patient flow.
• Ensures images are properly reviewed, quality-checked, and transmitted to PACS.
• Documents procedures, cancellations, and relevant comments in the RIS.
• Uses RIS, CIS, PACS, and SMS systems appropriately to access information and document procedures.
• Maintains image management equipment and reports equipment issues as needed.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Assists patients requiring additional attention and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
• Assists with troubleshooting equipment and protocol-related issues.
• Shares knowledge with staff and students as appropriate.

Required Education:

• Accredited Associate’s Degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• ARRT Certified in Radiography.
• Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Required Skills & Experience:

• No prior experience required.
• Must be proficient in portable radiography.
• Must be able to float to outpatient areas as needed.
