Job Summary :
- The Ultrasound Technician performs a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures across multiple departments, including outpatient services.
- This role involves close collaboration with radiologists and other licensed physicians by providing high-quality images and relevant data to support accurate interpretation, as well as assisting with interventional procedures.
- The technician exercises independent judgment in conducting examinations and managing complex or unusual situations.
- Responsibilities also include evaluating images for technical quality, ensuring optimal diagnostic results, and maintaining high standards of patient care.
- In addition, the Ultrasound Technician supports departmental operations by taking on additional assignments as needed and participates in after-hours coverage through an on-call rotation.
Education:
- Certificate or diploma in diagnostic medical sonography required.
Licensure/Certification:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) preferred.
- Current BLS Certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to handle emergencies or high-acuity cases.
- Strong technical skills operating ultrasound equipment.
- Ability to analyze image quality and adjust technique.
- Critical thinking and independent judgement during exams.
- Knowledge of anatomy, pathology and physiology.
- Effective communication with physicians and patients.
- Maintains a working knowledge of current CMS, Title 22, OSHA, and DNV standards.
- Demonstrates effective written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to work on-call, weekends, or nights
- Read, understand, and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing in communicating with public/co-workers, giving, and receiving instructions.
- Additional languages preferred.
