Job Summary:
- At the direction of a radiologist or other providers, prepares patients and performs radiographic procedures in diagnostic radiology while operating imaging equipment.
- Performs diagnostic studies according to established protocols while utilizing appropriate radiation protection measures.
- Supports organizational excellence initiatives and provides positive interaction with patients, visitors, and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform radiologic and fluoroscopic procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct general X-ray procedures, including portable imaging for ED, inpatient, and outpatient areas.
- Perform full CT imaging to support ED and inpatient services (no invasive procedures).
- Explain exams to patients and obtain relevant medical history.
- Position patients appropriately and select technical factors to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Ensure proper image identification, annotation, and technical accuracy.
- Review studies prior to submission and archive images to PACS.
- Perform PACS reconciliations accurately and timely.
- Document fluoro time and estimated skin exposure.
- Demonstrate proficiency using EPIC from order entry through exam completion.
- Collaborate with radiologists and ordering providers for protocol clarification.
- Assist with patient transport as needed.
- Maintain radiation safety standards in accordance with ALARA, OSHA, PPE, and infection control protocols.
- Assist with onboarding and mentoring of staff, students, and interns.
- Report and troubleshoot equipment issues following proper procedures.
- Support department operations through flexibility in scheduling and shift rotations.
Education Requirements:
- Post–high school completion of an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Preferred Education:
- Additional 1–2 years of college/university coursework and/or an undergraduate degree in a healthcare-related field.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist – RT (R).
- Current State of Wisconsin Radiographer License.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider or AHA-approved equivalent.
Required Skills & Experience:
- One (1) year of current clinical experience OR clinical student experience.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to organize and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to remain flexible and reorganize priorities during emergencies.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- One (1) year of current clinical experience in diagnostic radiology.
