Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Ultrasound Technologist administers ultrasound procedures to pregnant patients, operates ultrasound equipment, prepares patient rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Position requires assisting with invasive procedures (amniocentesis), Doppler studies, biophysical profiles, high-detail Level 2 ultrasounds and anatomy surveys.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow prescribed techniques in administering general and specific ultrasound procedures.
  • Teach new technicians how to scan.
  • Observe the patient and instruments during procedures, report unusual occurrences and record patient conditions.
  • Prepare room, equipment and materials as needed for patients.
  • Maintain stock supplies.
  • Enter exam procedures into a computer database.
  • Maintain files and filing of patient records.
  • Perform and help with portable ultrasound exams.
  • Consult with perinatologist pertaining to findings to assist in diagnosis.
  • Clean and disinfect ultrasound room and equipment.
  • Consistently meet schedule and quality requirements.

Required Education:

  • Graduate of or a student in a program accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), United States Department of Education (USDOE) or Canadian Medical Association (CMA), that specifically conducts programmatic accreditation for diagnostic medical Ultrasound/Sonography.

Preferred Education:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Ultrasound/Sonography is preferred.
  • Substantial training and current clinical experience with ARDMS registry will be accepted.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • ARDMS-registered in OB/GYN (OB) and Fetal Echo (FE).
  • Certified in Nuchal Translucency (NT) and Cervical Length (CLEAR).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Candidate must be proficient with ultrasound equipment and have basic knowledge of patient care equipment.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • One year of current clinical experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with McKesson PACS, Epic EMR preferred.

Schedule Notes:

  • 8 hours shifts with varying start times from 7:00am – 8:00am and shift ending between 3:30pm and 4:30pm.
