Job Summary:
- The Respiratory Therapist performs respiratory care and pulmonary diagnostic procedures in accordance with department and hospital policies for the treatment, management, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities.
- The role provides respiratory care services to patients of all ages in both critical care and non-critical care settings while supporting the mission, vision, and values of client.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform respiratory care and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians.
- Administer therapeutic treatments and diagnostic testing using medical gases and respiratory equipment.
- Administer medications to the cardiopulmonary system.
- Provide ventilatory support, including maintenance and management of life support systems.
- Perform bronClientulmonary clearance and breathing exercises.
- Provide patient education related to respiratory care.
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and maintain natural and artificial airways.
- Provide respiratory care services in critical care and non-critical care areas for patients of all ages.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Associate Degree from a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care is preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Current State of Wisconsin License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- AHA BLS Certification.
- ACLS Certification.
- NRP Certification.
- American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) membership preferred.
- Wisconsin Society for Respiratory Care (WSRC) membership preferred.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of worked or educational clinical experience in both general and critical care.
- 2+ years of experience in a hospital setting providing respiratory care preferred.
