Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Sterile Processing Technician II performs duties related to cleaning, sterilizing, processing, organizing, and distributing patient equipment, instruments, supplies, and products used in patient care.
  • May serve as a resource to Sterile Processing Technician I staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares rooms and organizes instruments, equipment, treatment trays, and supplies for assigned departments.
  • Cleans and decontaminates instruments, containers, and patient equipment using approved detergents and disinfectants in accordance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Operates semi-automatic and automatic sterilization equipment and washers.
  • Inventories, orders, replenishes, and distributes instruments, reusable medical equipment, and supplies for general and surgical carts.
  • Maintains inventory control, records, and files.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, manufacturer, and infection control guidelines.
  • Assists with in-service training and serves as a resource for Level I Sterile Processing staff.

Certification Required: 

  • CRCST.

Experience Required: 

  • 3 Years (Experience in all Sterile Processing services).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of sterilization methods and instrument processing procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
