Job Summary:
- We are seeking an experienced CVOR Surgical Technologist to join a high-performing cardiovascular surgical team in Plano, TX.
- The Surgical Technologist will assist surgeons during cardiovascular and vascular procedures by preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring all instruments and equipment are available and functioning properly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room with the necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment for cardiovascular procedures.
- Maintain sterile technique throughout surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow.
- Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to hospital policy.
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and surgical site preparation.
- Handle and label surgical specimens following established protocols.
- Clean and prepare surgical instruments for sterilization after procedures.
- Follow AORN, OSHA, infection prevention, and hospital safety guidelines.
- Ensure all surgical equipment is functioning properly before each procedure.
Required Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training.
Required Certifications & Licenses:
- CST certification through NBSTSA or NCCT required (grandfathered candidates accepted).
- BLS certification (AHA) required.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR Surgical Technologist experience.
- Experience assisting with cardiovascular and vascular surgeries is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and cardiovascular procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced operating room environment.
