Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Endoscopy Technician I, under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists with technical procedures, patient care services, and other assigned duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain equipment safely in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Assist physicians and clinical staff with procedures requiring aseptic technique while observing standard precautions.
• Prepare patients for examinations or procedures and assist physicians as needed.
• Transport equipment carts to various areas of the facility.
• Observe patients, recognize changes in condition, and promptly seek appropriate assistance.
• Clean procedure rooms before and after cases and transport soiled equipment to the decontamination area.
• Maintain adequate inventory of equipment and supplies and place orders as needed.
• Set up procedure rooms ensuring all equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly.
• Restock supplies in assigned rooms at the end of each shift.
• Perform quality checks on equipment and ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and repairs as required.

Certifications: 

• BLS (AHA only).

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Ability to see and hear with or without correction.
• Takes responsibility for participating in performance improvement activities.
• Attends 100% of required in-service education.
• Attends at least 50% of staff meetings or reviews content if unable to attend.
