Job Summary:

  • The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is responsible to surgically scrub in and assist with equipment.
  • Assists the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures is a secondary assignment.
  • Prepares room and equipment, transports and monitors patients.
  • May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy.
  • Preparing and maintaining sterile 1 fields for lab procedures; printing film and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases; circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms; monitoring patient’s ECG and vital signs while in Catheterization Lab, notifying Physician of variances, and providing emergency procedures (CPR, defibrillation, etc.) as needed.
  • Performs pre-and post-procedure care.
  • Monitors and orients patients for specials/catheterization procedures.
  • Answers related questions to make patient comfortable.
  • Transports patients to and from procedural area.
  • Communicates relevant medical information to physicians and other staff through required documentation on specified medical record forms.
  • Records, enters into data computer and calculates catheterization data, gradients, LV grams, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis.
  • Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self and staff.
  • Maintains inventory of and orders procedure room supplies.
  • Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use.

Certification and Experience:

  • ACLS, ARRT, BLS,RCIS, CRCST, 2 yr min experience required.
  • One (1) year clinical experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required.
  • Ability to multi-task and self-lead problem solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility.
  • Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation and techniques.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
