Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify, process, and document laboratory specimens to assess and monitor patient status.
- Develop and establish procedures for collecting, processing, and analyzing biological specimens and other substances.
- Perform and report analytical tests, integrating data from various clinical laboratory departments and resolving discrepancies.
- Confirm abnormal results and make decisions based on quality control procedures.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Support laboratory goals through teamwork, service excellence, and adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Assist medical laboratory science students during educational laboratory activities.
- Work directly with patients and internal/external customers via phone or face-to-face interaction.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and staff.
- Exercise independent judgment in planning workflow and making technical decisions.
Education and Certifications / Licenses:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related biological/chemical science from an accredited institution.
- Must have passed a national certification exam as a laboratory scientist accredited by an approved agency (MT/MLS or MLT – ASCP or AMT).
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year of laboratory experience with high complexity testing.
- Strong PC skills.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize work efficiently and maintain attention to detail in clinical and numerical data analysis.
Additional Job Details:
- Open to recent graduates.
- Experience working as a Generalist in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to work in an open-space lab setup and support multiple areas as needed.
- Comfortable working in a smaller team structure (3 Medical Technologists per shift; 3 Phlebotomists supporting).
- Experience in labs handling approximately 700 tests per 24-hour period.
