Job Summary:
- Provide advanced ECG monitoring while assessing patient status through ECG strip analysis and arrhythmia interpretation, identifying and responding to potentially life-threatening rhythm changes, initiating codes, recording rhythms during codes, performing continuous EKG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias, troubleshooting monitoring problems, and appropriately responding to all monitor alarms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform electrocardiograms in multiple settings including proper electrode placement.
- Communicate appropriately and clearly with charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians.
- Enter and verify orders in the computer system.
- Retrieve laboratory results from the computer system and bring results to the attention of the charge nurse.
- Ensure documentation meets current standards and organizational policies.
- Manage and operate monitoring and medical equipment safely and correctly.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification one (1) year issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Red Cross.
- Dysrhythmia Course.
Required Skills & Experience:
- MS Office Suite.
