Job Description

Duties:

  • Assists Physical and Occupational Therapists with portions of treatments under the supervision of appropriate therapist. Examples are: bed mobility, ADL, Ther.Ex., ambulation, etc.
  • Routinely sanitizes and cleans physical therapy modalities and performs routine safety checks on equipment as specified in the department of PM and R Policies and Procedures Manuel.
  • Transports patients to and from physical and/or occupational therapy sessions.
  • Assists patients to and from wheelchairs and stretchers using correct body mechanics and transfer techniques.
  • Responsible for weekly, monthly and annual inventory of designated equipment with ongoing reports to Program Manager.
  • Assists with ordering and neighborhood shopping as needed.
  • Daily statistics reconciliation batching and delivery to appropriate IS department.
  • Oversees and performs these duties with reports to Program Manager.
  • Assists with routine clerical tasks such as: maintaining inventory of exercise /patient education handouts, answers telephone professionally, assists with additional photocopying and clerical duties as needed.
  • Prepares clinical treatment areas and maintain status throughout the day, including linen supplies maintained, wiping down mats and equipment/toys, retrieves appropriate equipment required for patient treatment (i.e.: walkers, canes, theraband, etc.)
  • Maintains equipment supply closets for inventory and orderliness, etc.
  • Maintains appropriate and accurate time management skills.
  • Acts as an active team player with problem solving, program development and special projects.
  • Attends and participates in unit and departmental in-service education, including successfully passing a skills competency test which is unit specific.

Education:

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (1 Year)

Certifications & Licenses: CPR

Skills:

  • Experience working with patients in a health care setting required.
  • Experience working with patients in a Rehabilitation setting preferred.

Requirement:

  • Basic CPR.
  • Outpatient Rehab experience in a high volume setting preferred.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus.
