Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Evaluate and treat patients through an individualized program of physical therapy.
  • Treatment includes the assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and communication related to a patient’s progress.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care within the assigned are of the hospital.
  • Evaluate needs and tracking outcome or progress. Consult with others as needed.
  • Document progress and discharge summaries of patients according to department policy.
  • Track statistics and maintain treatment records according to the department policy.
  • Work with members of the therapy team to coordinate therapeutic services for individual patients.
  • Practices established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Work with family members to ensure they can support therapy outside of hospital to the extent it is needed.
  • Design services and procedures to meet the needs of the infant, pediatric, and adolescent patient population.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.

Licenses, Certifications:

  • New York State license in Physical Therapy and current NYS Registration.
  • CPR certification.

Experience:

  • Minimum one year experience as a physical therapist in a supervised setting within the last three years.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Enhance professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Keeps up to date on current professional literature.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
  • Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
