Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs radiographic procedures as requested by physicians and Radiologist.
- Has a good understanding of advance anatomy.
- Provides excellent care for patients and an understanding that they may be in pain; follows AIDET guidelines.
- Makes sure to check positive identification before performing all exams.
- Has advanced knowledge of contrast media, how it affects patients and what action to take in the event of a reaction.
- Checks and double checks all contrast before it is given to the patient and charts contrast usage appropriately in the patients chart.
- Able to obtain diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
- Has the ability to manipulate the x-ray machine to acquire adequate images even when the patients are not able to move.
- Understand that the operating room is a priority and that the surgeons needs need to be attended to quickly.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from accredited Radiologic Technology Program required.
- Minimum one year experience required which can be substituted with clinical education experience.
Certifications/ License:
- ARRT and New Mexico State licenses required.
- BLS certification issued through American Heart Association required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of radiographic imaging equipment, anatomy and physiology, radiographic positioning, medical terminology and basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged, extensive or considerate standing and walking.
- Lifts, positions, pushes and or transfers patients and equipment in excess of 50 lbs.
- Exposure to various body fluids and ionizing radiation.
