Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs radiographic procedures as requested by physicians and Radiologist.
  • Has a good understanding of advance anatomy.
  • Provides excellent care for patients and an understanding that they may be in pain; follows AIDET guidelines.
  • Makes sure to check positive identification before performing all exams.
  • Has advanced knowledge of contrast media, how it affects patients and what action to take in the event of a reaction.
  • Checks and double checks all contrast before it is given to the patient and charts contrast usage appropriately in the patients chart.
  • Able to obtain diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
  • Has the ability to manipulate the x-ray machine to acquire adequate images even when the patients are not able to move.
  • Understand that the operating room is a priority and that the surgeons needs need to be attended to quickly.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from accredited Radiologic Technology Program required.
  • Minimum one year experience required which can be substituted with clinical education experience.

Certifications/ License:

  • ARRT and New Mexico State licenses required.
  • BLS certification issued through American Heart Association required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of radiographic imaging equipment, anatomy and physiology, radiographic positioning, medical terminology and basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged, extensive or considerate standing and walking.
  • Lifts, positions, pushes and or transfers patients and equipment in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to various body fluids and ionizing radiation.
