Job Summary:
- Perform routine and ambulatory EEGs in the department as well as bedside routines for adults and pediatrics.
- Perform Long Term Monitoring hookups for all inpatient populations.
- Work in a wide variety of hospital environments (ICU, regular floor) with patient types including neonate through adult patient populations.

- Able to work independently as well as in a team setting.
- Competent in seizure pattern recognition for all patient populations.
- Skilled in their ability to provide a technologist’s impression of their studies and be able to relay pertinent information to their partnering physicians.
- Obtains relevant patient history and uses this information to guide testing.
- Explains the procedure to the patient.
- Demonstrates respect for the patient and family.
- Follows all patient safety guidelines and ensures a safe environment.
- Demonstrates knowledge and competency of medications and their effects on EEG studies.
- Displays competency using the 10-20 international electrode placement system with head measurement.
- Precisely applies electrodes.
- Recognizes and eliminates artifacts by troubleshooting and correcting when possible.
- Selects appropriate sensitivity settings and montages.
- Obtains quality data, ensuring technical quality regardless of patient’s age or disability.
- Monitors patients during testing.
- Collaborate with physicians who are responsible for the interpretation and clinical correlation of results.
- Reviews data during the recording to ensure validity and interpretability.
- Works independently and makes decisions regarding data collection.
- Adapts methods according to clinical observations and tracings.
- Knowledgeable in communicating an emergency and able to care for patient during seizures.
- Responsible for initial set up and on-going timely maintenance of ongoing long-term testing.
- Monitors skin integrity and reports skin breakdown to nursing.
- Skilled in pattern recognition and artifact detection.
- Displays competency in clipping, pruning and data archiving.
- Accurate and timely data collection.
- Submits all required information for data logs with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Equipment maintenance: ensures proper care and handling of all equipment and ensures that preventable damage does not occur.
- Maintains headboxes and other peripheral equipment to protect integrity and ensure long-term viability.
- Timely and respectful communication with nursing staff, physicians, and colleagues.
- Operates under limited guidance and work assignments involving moderately complex to complex situations that may need a good collaborative approach and relationship with colleagues and units.
Required Education:
- HS Diploma/GED.
- Graduate/Certificate from an accredited Neurodiagnostic Program and must have completed a clinical Neurodiagnostic internship (vetted during interview process).
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- BLS required within 30 days of start.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
- ABRET – R.
- EEG T certification.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Two plus (2) + years of Neurodiagnostic/EEG technology experience.
- To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with MEG procedures.
- Previous experience working in a hospital setting.
- Experience with EPIC and NATUS preferred.
