Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs mammographic procedure on In/Outpatients according to published department protocols.
- Reviews each prescription, history questionnaire, and patient record prior to the examination to ensure all pertinent information is available for radiologist interpretation.
- Performs radiologic examination with a high standard of accuracy in positioning and technical factors.
- Practices universal precautions, and aseptic technique to prevent cross contamination.
- Practice National Patient Safety Goals, obtaining a minimum of two patient identifiers with each and every patient.
- Processes images using the Client system.
- Completed and verifies cases in a timely manner.
- Ensures work lists are cleaned up daily.
- Monitors and resolves Exceptions List daily.
- Proper utilization of the Breast reporting system(PenRad), EMR and PACS systems.
- Proper loading of external imaging and creation of necessary orders and scanning of reports into PACS system for radiologist review.
- Analyzes each acquired image for proper positioning, proper markers, date stickers, and appropriate labels and patient identification.
- Repeats image if presence of any factors that may deter from its diagnostic value.
- Maintains a responsive/respectful relationship with patients.
- Assesses and responds to patients physical, sociological/psychological needs.
- Explains all procedures in a clear and concise manner.
- Understands and respects cultural differences.
- Makes use of Cyracom phone when needed for language barriers.
- Knowledge and utilization of Vocera.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned work area.
- Ensures assigned area is properly stocked with adequate supplies and required material to perform procedures.
- Ensures cleanliness of radiographic equipment and work area.
- Communicate efficiently with coordinators, supervisors, point person and vendors.
- Ensures continuity and adequate follow through regarding equipment malfunctions.
- Communicates appropriately with patients, co-workers, students, physicians, and supervisors.
- Works in conjunction with Ultrasound to ensure a productive and comprehensive flow of patients through both modalities.
- Performs bone density scans accurately understanding of terminology and results.
- Accurate review of interventional cases and working knowledge of interventional procedures and protocols.
- Assists with needle localizations, and if trained, stereotactic biopsies.
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
- Practices the ALARA principle for radiation protection.
- Accurately and effectively performs QA as per MQSA guidelines.
- Report problems to Clinical Engineering and supervisor.
- Orient new employees and participates as preceptor for procedures if requested.
- Exhibits responsible attitude with regard to attendance and tardiness.
- Always provides notification and advance notice for absence or tardiness.
- Always demonstrates reliability and makes every attempt to consistently report to work on time at the start of the assigned shift, even in inclement weather.
Required Education:
- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of accredited course in Radiologic Technology or Mammography.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- ARRT (R) and (M).
- New Jersey Diagnostic Rad Tech license – certified in Mammography.
- BLS.
- Must meet all ECE requirements to maintain their Mammo certification.
- A list of ECE and the amount of Mammograms by type performed within a two year period to ensure they have maintained the required exams per year.
- The requirement is 200 Mammograms in 36 months to meet MQSA requirements.
Languages:
- English( Speak, Read, Write).
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Able to perform screening and diagnostic mammography at a minimum.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Ability to perform DEXA and Biopsy procedures that is a plus.
