Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic images without the need for constant supervision.
  • This role includes performing portable x-rays and helping with patient positioning and movement to ensure accurate imaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic x-rays by positioning patients, utilizing immobilization devices, and selecting technical factors appropriate to the patient’s condition.
  • Limit radiation exposure by using cones and collimators.
  • Conduct portable x-ray exams in various settings (patient rooms, OR, ER).
  • Label and process films with accurate patient and exam information.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure cleanliness and organization of the x-ray room.
  • Prepare and assist in the use of radiopaque contrast media.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling and documentation.
  • Adapt care based on patients’ specific needs, including cultural and communication considerations.
  • Comply with organizational standards and competencies.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Completion of clinical training and A.R.R.T. requirements.

Licensure & Certification:

  • Valid New Jersey Radiologic Technologist License.
  • Must meet National Registry requirements and pass the certification exam.
