Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Performs general diagnostic radiology examinations while following protocols, departmental policies, and patient safety standards.
  • Responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images, accurate documentation, and timely transmission of studies to PACS.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general diagnostic radiographic examinations according to established protocols.
  • Maintain active RT(R) credentials and apply appropriate technical knowledge.
  • Perform portable radiography competently.
  • Verify patient identity, demographics, examination orders, and relevant medical history.
  • Confirm pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation.
  • Assess patient condition and determine the appropriate imaging approach and support required.
  • Obtain, evaluate, orient, and save high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Perform image quality control and ensure studies are properly transmitted to PACS.
  • Complete and document examinations, cancellations, and relevant comments in RIS.
  • Utilize RIS, CIS, PACS, SMS, and HIS systems effectively.
  • Review and modify examination orders as appropriate.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and maintain patient safety.
  • Maintain imaging equipment and report equipment issues to appropriate resources.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Review daily schedules and support efficient patient flow.
  • Share technical knowledge with staff and students.
  • Document incidents and communicate improvement opportunities to the supervisor.

Required Education:

  • Accredited Associate’s Degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • ARRT Certified in Radiography.
  • Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Preferred Experience:

  • OR experience – Preferred.
  • C-Arm experience – Preferred.
  • Portable radiography – Required.
