Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform ultrasound examinations under general or direct physician supervision.
  • Assist radiologists with invasive diagnostic procedures, including needle biopsies, aspirations, and guided needle-wire placement.
  • Evaluate patient readiness and identify contraindications before procedures.
  • Recognize normal and abnormal sonographic anatomy, tissue characteristics, and blood flow.
  • Analyze images throughout examinations to ensure complete studies and adequate diagnostic information.
  • Perform Doppler studies and record appropriate images, Doppler data, and patient information.
  • Identify abnormalities requiring real-time review by the radiologist.
  • Communicate examination findings and preliminary information to the radiologist and/or referring physician.
  • Provide training and standardization guidance to residents regarding applicable ultrasound examinations.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of Ultrasound Technologist experience.
  • Previous EPIC experience required.
  • Previous E-10 equipment experience required.
  • Previous vascular ultrasound experience required.
  • Must complete all department-specific Sonographer competencies within 12 months of hire.
  • Must maintain annual modality competencies and required continuing education.

Required Education Certifications & Licensure:

  • Completion of a twelve (12) month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography / General Ultrasound or equivalent certificate program is require.
  • RDMS registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • (ARDMS) with certification in at least one modality specific to department of hire (i.e. Abd, OBGYN, RVT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
