Job Description
Job Summary:
- MRI technologists run the magnetic resonance imaging scanner to create a diagnostic image for the physician.
- They maintain imaging equipment and ensure that their patients are protected and in an optimal position for imaging.
- They must work closely with the physician by taking medical histories, keeping records and adjusting the scanner as directed.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s Degree in Applied Science.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Technologist in Imaging Services preferred.
Must meet one of the following:
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography.
- Must become registered in MRI within two (2) years of date of hire in the MRI department.
- If a technologist fails to become registered in MRI within 2 years of their MRI hire date, he/she will be terminated from the MRI Tech position.
- Transfer to an alternate role in another modality such as General X-ray or CT may be offered depending on the candidate’s ability to meet minimum job requirements, availability of open positions, and requires the approval of the area’s supervisor, manager, and/or department director.
- Completion of an accredited MRI program and ARRT registered in MRI.
