Job Description

Job Summary:

• Under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, provides comprehensive respiratory care to patients, including life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapy.
• Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for patients in Intensive Care and General Practice Units.
• The Respiratory Therapist works closely with patients, physicians, and healthcare teams, maintains accurate clinical documentation, and may supervise or delegate tasks to respiratory therapy staff, interns, externs, and students as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide life-support, resuscitation, respiratory monitoring, and medical gas therapy.
• Perform invasive and non-invasive respiratory diagnostic procedures.
• Provide respiratory care to ICU and general practice patients.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and healthcare team members.
• Accurately document all aspects of patient care.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to respiratory therapy staff and students as assigned.
• Complete accurate patient billing documentation.

Required Education:

• Associate of Science Degree, from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.

Preferred Education:

• Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy preferred.

Required Certification & Licensure:

• Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current License – Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.
• BLS.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.
