Job Description

Job Summary:

  • To perform a variety of highly technical, non-invasive vascular and/or cardiology procedures and prepare preliminary test interpretations as ordered by physician under established standard operating procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of highly technical non-invasive vascular and/or cardiology procedures as ordered by a physician.
  • Calculate preliminary test interpretations for physicians following department guidelines.
  • Prepare patient for prescribed tests by obtaining and recording medical history and explaining the procedure to obtain patient consent.
  • Alert manager, physician, or nursing staff regarding any acute patient abnormalities.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and perform quality control on equipment according to established criteria.
  • Attend continuing education programs annually to maintain credentials.
  • Maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support skills.
  • Initiates patient charges.
  • Assists in orientation and training of new staff.
  • Perform routine clerical and other related duties as required.

Personal Interaction:

  • Daily contacts are made with employees to schedule patient appointments and transportation of patient to testing area, with patients/families to explain procedures and perform tests, and with physicians to exchange information about the patient and test results.

Required Education:

  • High school graduate or G.E.D.

Preferred Education:

  • Enrollment in or graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) accredited Electro neuro-diagnostic (END) program is preferred.

Required Certification & Licensure:

  • BLS.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • One to two years of experience as a non-invasive echocardiographic or vascular technician is necessary.
