Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday.

Job Summary:

• Under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapy to patients.
• Performs both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for patients in Intensive Care and
• General Practice Units.
• Maintains clinical expertise to support departmental assignments across various business units as needed.
• Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, co-workers, and other staff regarding patient care needs.
• Ensures accurate documentation of all patient care activities and billing information.
• May supervise, direct, and delegate tasks to Respiratory Therapists, respiratory therapy students, externs, and new staff as assigned.

Required: Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
Certifications & Licensure:
Required:

• Registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Current Respiratory Therapist License in the State of Michigan.

Preferred:

• BLS Certification.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.
• NICU experience (must be current or within the last year; experience must be clearly listed).
• Technology Experience:Cerner.
• High Frequency Oscillating Ventilator.
• Servo I and Servo U Ventilators.
• Soft Skills:Strong communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
