Job Summary:
- Performs CT imaging procedures under general supervision to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- May also perform general diagnostic radiography while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform CT scans following physician orders and imaging protocols.
- Prepare, position, and educate patients for procedures.
- Review patient history and clinical information prior to imaging.
- Administer IV contrast media and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Operate CT equipment while following ALARA radiation safety guidelines.
- Assist radiologists during contrast and interventional imaging procedures, including biopsies when required.
- Maintain accurate documentation in PACS, RIS, and the electronic medical record.
- Ensure image quality and complete all required study documentation.
- Maintain equipment, procedure rooms, and imaging supplies.
- Deliver excellent patient care and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
- Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- BLS.
- Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Previous General Radiography (X-Ray) experience – Required.
- Experience operating CT imaging equipment.
- Ability to administer IV contrast and follow CT imaging protocols.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient care skills.
- Commitment to radiation safety and quality imaging standards.
Work Environment:
- Hospital or ambulatory/mobile imaging setting.
- Exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and infectious patients while following safety protocols.
- Ability to lift and move patients/equipment as needed.
