Phlebotomist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• Under general supervision and according to established procedures, performs routine laboratory activities including patient reception, venipuncture, data entry, and other related clinical lab duties.

Responsibilities include:

• Drawing blood.
• Rounding and transporting items from clinic to main lab.
• Handling 20–25 tubes per session.

Education:

• Required: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Phlebotomy training program.

Certifications & Licensure:

• Required: Valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license and ability to be insured by an HFMG insurance carrier.

Skills & Experience:

• Required: 6 months to 1 year of venipuncture experience.
• Required: Must have experience with straight needles.
• Preferred: 5+ years preferred.
• Preferred: Basic computer experience.

• In-person interview (30 minutes).
