Job Description
Job Summary:
- Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and surgical team, responsible for handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures.
- Ensures readiness for assigned procedures, anticipates team needs, and supports patient care, transport, and safety.
- Responds to emergency situations as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in general surgical procedures (scrubbing in).
- Prepare operating room, instruments, and supplies.
- Ensure proper functioning of equipment.
- Follow safety, infection control, and departmental policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Support patient care, comfort, and privacy.
- Assist RN with patient movement (admit/transfer/discharge).
- Manage and restock supplies as needed.
- Participate in training, audits, and departmental initiatives.
- Train or support new staff when required.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
Preferred Education:
- Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.
Skills & Experience:
- Ability to lift/move patients and equipment.
- Comfortable in a clinical environment with potential exposure risks.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
