Surgical Technologist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and surgical team, responsible for handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures.
• Ensures readiness for assigned procedures, anticipates team needs, and supports patient care, transport, and safety.
• Responds to emergency situations as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in general surgical procedures (scrubbing in).
• Prepare operating room, instruments, and supplies.
• Ensure proper functioning of equipment.
• Follow safety, infection control, and departmental policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Support patient care, comfort, and privacy.
• Assist RN with patient movement (admit/transfer/discharge).
• Manage and restock supplies as needed.
• Participate in training, audits, and departmental initiatives.
• Train or support new staff when required.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.

Preferred Education:

• Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.

Required Certification & Licensure:

• Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.

Skills & Experience:

• Ability to lift/move patients and equipment.
• Comfortable in a clinical environment with potential exposure risks.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
