Surgical Technician

Job Description

Job Summary:

• This job assists in procedures competently and professionally, ensures appropriate handling and maintenance of equipment and supplies, and ensures availability of equipment and supplies for surgical procedures. Scrubs for surgical procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the registered nurse (RN).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs direct patient care duties, including assisting physicians during procedures.
• Assists in the day-to-day operations of the department.
• Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, equipment, training, and credentials.
• Adapts to change in a positive constructive manner.
• Ensures cleanliness and/disinfection of endo Products while maintaining quality control measures.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Education:

• Required – High school diploma or equivalent and graduate from an accepted course in surgical technology certification.

Experience:

• Required – 2+ years of experience in a similar medical setting. Basic analytical experience.

Certifications:

• Required – Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Good organizational skills.
• Good time management skills and ability to be self directed.
• Ability to demonstrate good judgement.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

• The physical essential functions of this job include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force.
• Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work.
