Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes the nutrition screening of clients.
- Assesses nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans of clients to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling.
- Completes a dietary consult within 48 hours of the order notification.
- Assists in the development of Facility regular and therapeutic menu plans and nutritional supplements based on indicated physiological and psychological needs of clients.
- Consults with Director of Dietary for performance level of Dietary staff that will provide nutritionally adequate, quality food.
- Advises clients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans, diet modifications and food selection and preparation.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation.
- Counsels individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases.
- Consults with physicians, health care and dietary staff to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of client.
- Reviews and approves facility diet manual annually in conjunction with medical staff.
- Monitors food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety, sanitation and quality standards as needed.
Required Certifications/Educattion/Licensure:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in Dietetics, Nutrition or similar field acceptable for licensure.
- Current registered dietician or registration as required by state or eligible for endorsement by the state in which the facility provides services.
- SERVSafe certification or similar food safety certification where required by the state or facility.
Required Experience:
- Experience with Eating Disorders and Substance Abuse strongly preferred in facilities working with those client populations.
