Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Respiratory Therapist (RT) is either registered or certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) to provide cardiopulmonary services.
  • The RT is responsible for following protocols approved by the medical staff and department policies and procedures to deliver timely diagnostic and therapeutic services to both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Responsibilities include assisting physicians with invasive and non-invasive procedures, delivering medicated aerosols via medical compressed gas, maintaining airways, ventilator management, insertion of arterial lines, intubations, pulmonary function studies, cardiac and pulmonary stress tests, and blood gas analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide cardiopulmonary care and support to patients in accordance with medical staff protocols.
  • Assist physicians during invasive and non-invasive respiratory procedures.
  • Deliver medicated aerosols using medical compressed gases.
  • Manage airway maintenance and ventilator support.
  • Perform arterial line insertions and intubations as needed.
  • Conduct pulmonary function studies and cardiac/pulmonary stress tests.
  • Obtain and analyze blood gases for accurate patient assessment.

Requirements:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from NBRC (must be attached to submission).
  • Minimum of 2 years recent hospital-based Respiratory Therapist experience.
  • Valid Arkansas RT license (must be attached to resume).
  • Current ACLS, BLS, NRP & PALS certifications from the American Heart Association (must be attached to submission).
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
