Job Description
Job Summary:
- Assists with instruction of Clinical Laboratory Science students, Pathology residents, and new employees.
- Serves as a technical resource.
- Enters testing information into a computerized database.
- Investigates and resolves issues involving equipment, patient results, specimens, and workflow.
- May participate in teams or independently perform special projects and assignments.
- Prepares tissue slides by processing, embedding, sectioning, examining, and staining tissues received
- from surgical pathology, autopsy, hematology, cytology, and research areas.
- Reports test results to healthcare providers.
- Consults and collaborates with healthcare providers regarding test results.
Education Skills & Experience:
- Associate’s degree with 1 year of relevant experience.
- Associates Degree in biological, chemical, or related science (with completion CLIA required courses).
- Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program.
- ASCP certification is not required but highly preferred.
