Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision while performing all essential radiologic technologist functions in accordance with department and hospital standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Produce diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.
• Operate radiographic equipment for routine and specialized diagnostic procedures.
• Restrict radiation exposure using cones and collimating devices to protect unaffected parts of the patient.
• Perform portable X-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and the emergency department.
• Correctly identify and label patient films with patient information and anatomical side markers.
• Process exposed X-ray films using available processing methods.
• Complete patient requisitions with technologist initials, date, film number, and film size.
• Maintain an organized and clean X-ray room and equipment.
• Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist physicians during contrast procedures.
• Perform administrative duties including scheduling appointments, providing patient instructions, maintaining records, filing films, and patient reception.
• Assist patients with moving, positioning, transferring, and getting on and off X-ray tables based on individual patient needs.
• Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours per day.
• Deliver age-appropriate and culturally competent patient care while communicating effectively with patients, parents, and caregivers.
• Adhere to organizational competencies, radiation safety standards, and hospital policies.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Must possess New Jersey State License.
• Applicant must be able to meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass such examination.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 2–3 years of Radiology Technologist experience required.
• X-Ray Equipment Usage, Radiation Safety, Positioning Techniques.

• English (Read, Write, Speak).
