Responsibilities
- Perform radiographic procedures according to established department protocols and within standard timeframes.
- Prepare and properly orient patients for procedures to ensure comfort and understanding.
- Provide quality patient care while patients are in the Radiology Department.
- Ensure radiation safety and protection for patients, co-workers, and self.
- Operate imaging equipment, computers, and other department tools efficiently.
- Maintain and operate equipment in accordance with department policies and manufacturer guidelines.
- Review patient records for prior studies in PACS and request merges when necessary.
- Accurately prepare and maintain written and/or electronic documentation as per hospital and department policies.
- Monitor and maintain supplies and accessories in work areas; restock when needed.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe, including cleaning surfaces at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the Radiology Department.
- Communicate in a cooperative, courteous, and professional manner with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
- Follow AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) communication guidelines at all times.
- Stay updated with current knowledge in radiologic technology.
- Participate in continuing education programs and professional development activities.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Experience
- Minimum of one year of experience required (clinical training may be considered as a substitute).
Certifications / Licenses
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
- New Mexico State Radiologic Technologist license required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association required.
