Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures including specimen processing, testing, and reporting.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Perform quality control procedures and ensure compliance with lab standards.
- Process patient specimens including collection, handling, and distribution.
- Enter, calculate, and verify laboratory results using Laboratory Information System.
- Report and document critical lab values.
- Assist in development and implementation of new lab procedures and protocols.
- Cross-train across multiple lab departments as needed.
- Perform phlebotomy and other patient-related tasks when required.
- Ensure adherence to Client’s core values and compliance policies.
- Adapt patient care based on age-specific and developmental needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology (or equivalent per CLIA guidelines).
- Certification required: MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.
- Certification must be active and maintained.
- Louisiana State License required.
- No experience required for NAACLS-accredited program graduates OR
- 1 year of clinical lab experience with rotations in Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids.
Preferences:
- Prior experience in multiple lab sections.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
- Ability to work independently and handle complex testing procedures.
