Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Medical Laboratory Scientist I performs and monitors a full range of laboratory testing and analysis.
• The role includes responsibility for problem resolution, quality control, and equipment maintenance while working with minimal supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform laboratory testing in compliance with departmental procedures and regulatory standards.
• Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Perform instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Accurately analyze and report test results.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of laboratory supplies.
• Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, interdisciplinary teams, and external customers.
• Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
• Demonstrate and educate laboratory principles and technical skills to others.

Certification/Degree Requirements:

• MLS.
• ASCP or AMT.

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year experience.
• Strong Blood Bank / Transfusion experience required.
• Familiarity with laboratory automation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols, and procedures.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to understand and clearly communicate instructions.
• Proficiency in laboratory protocols and procedures.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with laboratory software systems.
• Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
