Job Summary:
- Performs radiologic treatments for patients.
- Responsible for pre-treatment services and delivery of radiologic treatment.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Treatment of patients:
- Arrange treatment appointments.
- Deliver radiation to patients in accordance with physician’s instructions.
- Operate all types of radiotherapy equipment, i.e., Cobalt Therapy Unit, Linear Accelerator, Simulator, etc.
2. Pre-Treatment Preparation:
- Operate simulator for localization of tumor size and position.
- Takes contours and collects all physical factors for treatment plans.
- Perform dosimetry for treatment plans.
- Take photographs of patients for portal verifications, etc.
3. Patient Care Activities:
- Recognize all types of radiation reactions and provides the proper care and instructions to patients.
- Educate patients with respect to radiation therapy reactions and also lifestyle modifications.
- Instruct incoming Residents and technologists in the use of equipment.
- Prepare cerrobend alloy blocks.
- Fabricate plastic holders for blocks.
- Construct and fabricate patient immobilization devices.
- Take and develop radiographs.
- Maintain patient management room neat and orderly.
- Coordinate department with inpatient activities to provide proper patient care.
- When necessary, transports inpatients.
- Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of radiologic equipment in use at client.
- Good patient interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and speak English.
- Ability to fully utilize client’s electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- No prior experience required, preference for 6 months to one-year x-ray or radiologic experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing or exerting force up to 75 pounds.
